The Rock Announces That Jumanji 3 Has Wrapped Filming

PT KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - The Rock announces that Jumanji 3 has wrapped filming. It came as a bit of a surprise to fans of 1995’s Jumanji when Sony announced it would be making a new film based on the children’s novel by Chris Van Allsburg. Though there was some initial confusion as to whether the film would be a reboot or a remake, it soon became obvious that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle wouldn’t be a half-baked take on the original.

PT KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - However, as many Jumanji fans are aware, the original 1995 film was led by the late Robin Williams, prompting initial concerns that those were far too big shoes to fill. Yet, right from the start, Dwayne Johnson (who starred in and produced the film), was clear with fans that his intentions were not to forget Williams and his contributions to Jumanji, but instead to create something that honored the universe and timeline that Williams had helped to create. The end result was impressive indeed, proving that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was neither a reboot nor a remake, but a sequel of sorts - and one that substantially outperformed the original at the box office. This was a new franchise, with new opportunities that, so far, Jumanji fans have taken to.

It’s now been two years since Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released, and its follow up (currently known only as Jumanji 3) has been filming since February. There hasn’t been a lot of news since production began, but now Johnson has taken to Instagram to reveal that the latest Jumanji sequel has official wrapped production. Filled with his usual professionalism and consideration, Johnson’s Instagram message thanked all who were involved, as well as Jumanji fans worldwide for helping the franchise succeed.

Things may be relatively calm right now, but Jumanji 3 will truly have its strengths tested upon its release. The new sequel is scheduled to open on December 13, 2019, which means that it will be facing the likes of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Eddie Murphy’s Coming to America 2, both of which open within a week of Jumanji 3. And while that might sound like a pretty big challenge to take on,  it won't be the first time the action-comedy has taken on The Force and won. This latest incarnation of Jumanji features a complete return of its main cast – which includes Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black. The new film also marks the return of director Jake Kasdan, as well as screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. In other words, there are no shortages of talent here and the fact that the new film has all the key elements of its predecessor could mean that Jumanji fans are in for a real treat.
