FXX Announces 13-Hour Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Marathon

PT KONTAK PERKASA - FXX will air a 13-hour Treehouse of Horror Marathon on Halloween, in celebration of The Simpsons’ legacy of frightful parodies. The annual Simpsons tradition began way back in season 2, and has continued ever since. The most recent installment aired this past Sunday, and featured send-ups of such properties as The Exorcist and Coraline. While Treehouse of Horror began as an almost entirely horror-focused event, recent years have seen the targets of parody branch out to include sci-fi, fantasy, and general pop culture.

One of the most memorable Treehouse of Horror segments is season 6’s ‘The Shinning,’ in which Homer goes crazy due to lack of beer and TV, leading him to attempt to murder his family. The misspelled title is a reference to a joke within the episode, as Bart tries to use the proper title, and is cautioned by Groundskeeper Willie about provoking a lawsuit. Speaking of Willie, another of Treehouse’s most famous segments is season 7’s ‘Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace,’ which casts the Scottish brawler as a Freddy Krueger-like dream stalker.

With 27 installments of Treehouse of Horror in the books, there are countless fan debates online concerning what the greatest segments are, and what the best episodes are to watch during the Halloween season. Thanks to FXX, fans now won’t have to pick and choose, as the network has announced a 13-hour Halloween day marathon of the first 26 Treehouse of Horrors. Notably, the just aired ‘Treehouse of Horror XXVII’ will not be included, although it is currently available to stream on Hulu and the FOX Now app.

For those busy on the actual holiday, FXX will also be presenting themed marathons of selected Treehouse episodes in the days leading up to Halloween. For example, the themed marathon on October 30 features movie parodies, while the marathon on October 27 revolves around demons and witches.
While fans continue to wonder when The Simpsons will end up finally signing off for good, it seems like at least a few more Treehouse of Horror installments will be made before Homer and family leave the airwaves. If this marathon goes well, FXX will presumably keep adding to it as the years go on, and create a Halloween tradition of its own.
