KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in signing Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy this summer, Sky sources understand.
The 22-year-old has been instrumental for the Ligue 1 leaders
and Champions League quarter-finalists this season, making 28
appearances in all competitions for the club since a £13m move from
Marseille last summer.
It is understood he is now valued at around
twice that figure and is of interest to all top-six teams in the
Premier League, but sources have told Sky Sports News HQ that Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are the most keen on the defender as things stand.
Guardiola
- set to make changes to his City squad this summer - is believed to
want another option to Gael Clichy, while Mourinho appears to have given
Luke Shaw one final chance to prove himself at Old Trafford, and Conte
wants to bolster his ranks ahead of the Blues' return to the Champions
League next term.
Liverpool
boss Jurgen Klopp is also likely to be in the market for a new
left-back, having used midfielder James Milner in that position for the
majority of the season over Alberto Moreno.
Tottenham
were interested in Mendy last summer but did not pursue a move, and
Mauricio Pochettino is happy with Danny Rose and Ben Davies. It is
unclear what Arsenal's intentions are this summer while Arsene Wenger's
future remains up in the air.
With Monaco close to winning a first Ligue 1 title in 17 years and set for a Champions League quarter-final, first-leg clash against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, Mendy will only move to a club with a fighting chance of winning Europe's top trophy and respective domestic title next season.
Mendy
has more assists across league and Champions League (eight) than any
other defender in Europe, including the likes of Real Madrid's Marcelo
and Bayern Munich's David Alaba.
He also has the most assists of
any defender in the Champions League (three), with a 77 per cent pass
completion rate and 29 key passes in Ligue 1 and Europe combined.
Mendy also earned his first cap for France in the World Cup qualifying win over Luxembourg in March, getting an assist in a 3-1 victory.
